The three stages of enlightenment
Spiritual enlightenment is often categorized into levels for practical purposes. The highest stage of spiritual enlightenment marks the attainment of unity with God or being one with everything. But can still there are certain levels through which the individual needs to evolve. In a similar way that man has evolved from more primitive animals, the human concisiness or soul also evolves. For our practical purpose, put them in stages and analyze the state of being in each stage:
The first stage of spiritual enlightenment
At the very first level of enlightenment, the individual starts experiencing reality as it is. It means that your mind ceases to interfere with what you are experiencing. We are engaged in continuous talk, gossip, analyzing the environment around us, planning about future, or worrying about the past. When you are in a state of spiritual enlightenment you are completely in the present moment. You stop judging and labeling the world. Your mind is calm, quite and still. You are very awake, and aware of the current moment right now.
The second stage of spiritual enlightenment
At the second stage of enlightenment, you feel apart of yourself in everything around you. You feel a connection with every object and individual in the world. The borders between yourself and the world around you dissipate. Your soul begins to merge with Supreme Soul. You feel that you are not individual anymore and not separate from anything. You feel that you are in everything and everything is just a part of the Supreme Soul from where you also have emerged. Many people describe this feelings of completeness and love.
The third stage of spiritual enlightenment
The third stage of enlightenment, you no longer feel connected to everything but realize you are everything. You the experience the oneness of God and are not separate from anything in the universe. This stage of enlightenment is a direct experience of oneness.
Spiritual enlightenment is the fruit that sets you free, as you lose all wants and wishes to receive the fruits of your actions. You feel the bliss of completeness and true love. At first it gives you the feeling that you need "Light". At the next stage, you feel that you are merging in "Light". And in the final stage you and the "Light" are one.

I m doing Yoga Meditation 4 about 15 years. At present, I m seeing light on my forehead. I see white light piercing through my third eye. I see little holes in my third as the light diminishes. Does this mean enlightenment? Thank you very much for your response.

God is universal. If you are being enlightened and feel the 'third eye' on your forehead with light going througfh it is what you believe is enlightenment then in fact it is. The point is imho, and from my experience is that you can do what you want when you get there. You are being given the keys to the kingdom... it is up to you what you do inside.
Push yourself and enlighten others. |

I received illumination in 1997 it stayed for 2weeks.I experienced perfect freedom and all positive energies were supportning me.I was constantly aware of the presence of God. After 2weeks it was not there, I slept with a girl while I was not married and I felt very guilty and I don't know why did I do that because I was already content no need for pleasure, but I wish it would come back and God forgives me.

As a child (8yrs) I asked "God" what the universe would be like if "God" never existed. I experienced the removal of all that IS. And then the removal of void. What was NOT left ... no void to miss what never was ... THIS place and experience changed my being on a level I can not explain. Was this enlightenment? I do not know. All I know is that there is a before and there is an after.

It's a definite start but you need to vastly increase the bandwidth you are experiencing one way or another for any worthwhile result. The physical brain is capable of indirectly experiencing the soul as (light) patterns. Time goes in both directions, one direction for each brain hemisphere. That took me about 3 years of meditation to momentarily experience albeit at will. |

What do you mean you are "seeing light on my forehead". Like an aura? Can you describe the feeling or what it means to have this light?

I love this article on enlightenment.Wish I could express what I feel inside the same way.
I like to think of myself as an active guru.Live life to it's fulless and then meditate on what you learn an try to stay on the path to enlightenment.I like to help others but I find it's important to help yourself first before you can help others. That is why I think this article speeks for me or to me. |

Great post about the stages of enlightenment
Last Friday I met Betty Ruth who is the author of the Book "The Inner Game of Russian Roulette - A Romance of the Soul, by Ananda Mouse" She writes about her own experiences of growth of consciousness towards self-realization, enlightenment, and the role of a spiritual mentor or enlightened master in this process. She will have a virtual book tour (VBT) teleconference, and anyone interested in this quest for liberation can ask a question to the author who writes about the challenge, and the romance, of inner awakening. |
