By Katie Long

You came into my life so softly, tenderly,

Like a fawn in the woods, finding another like itself.

Cautiously you observed me from afar.

I was watching you, not like one who would wish to tame...

or save...

or capture,

But like another new fawn, our eyes met.

A meeting of the very life, the soul itself,

Something stirred in me,

A sensation, a feeling, a spirit, which mere human words cannot express.

You are the first in my life to enter here.

Like the Holy of Holies in the temple, set aside for only a select,

You entered the most sacred place in my being.
