Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is an age old Japanese healing technique.  Reiki means ‘Universal Life Force Energy’ and it is this energy which exists in and around all living things.  This energy flow is vital to our wellbeing and when it becomes low or blocked, illness or dis-ease can occur.

Reiki is a very safe and gentle, yet powerful technique that works to restore the bodies normal energy flow.  This in turn is thought to stimulate the bodies natural healing ability, release stress, calm the mind and cleanse and bring balance to the body.  Reiki re-establishes the life force energy by flowing through the body and energy field and healing and releasing those areas in need.  Once this happens a healthy energy flow is restored.

Reiki can be used to treat anyone, regardless of age or circumstance. Reiki can be used to help with physical, emotional, mental and spiritual concerns and conditions.  In fact, one does not need to be unwell or in difficulty to receive Reiki.  Reiki can help with:

•    Reducing stress, anxiety, depression, negativity and the side effects of some medications
•    Relieving all kinds of injuries, acute and chronic health conditions, pain/discomfort and lethargy
•    Improving and increasing creativity, confidence, sleep, optimism, immunity, vitality and overall wellbeing
•    Healing emotions, loss and past events,
•    Shortening recovery time after surgery and medical treatments
•    Aiding spiritual growth, breaking addictions
•    Cleansing and balancing body, mind and spirit
•    Prepare you for and assist you during an important event/change

Reiki works with the individuals higher self and so it is always working for the benefit of the recipient and can certainly be used alongside other treatments and in fact it has been said that Reiki can improve the effectiveness of other forms of treatment and therapy.  Reiki can only be used for the highest possible good, so you can rest assured of its safety.

The wonderful beneficial healing aspects of healing know no boundaries and they can be sent to any person, animal, event, challenge, goal, or place anywhere in the world.  Distance Reiki is just as effective as a hands on treatment and for some people it is the preferred method as its convenient and doesn’t require any traveling, and for those with busy lives it enables them to receive regular healing without disrupting their everyday routine.

How Reiki is experienced is different for everyone, but warmth and tingling are commonly felt, some people feel cool, others feel perhaps a pulsing sensation, there is no right or wrong way to experience it, we are all so individual and our symptoms and their causes are so unique that everyone experience is their own.  However one thing that I have found that everyone who receives a Reiki treatment feels is ‘relaxed’.

Distance healing may or may not be felt at the time it is being sent, it really depends on how connected a person is to their own bodily sensations and what is happening around them at the time it is sent, but rest assured it is working and often with absent healing the effects are noticed on the mental and emotional levels first before the physical body as the Reiki travels through your energy field, the speed at which this happens is also unique to each person as the Reiki works with you.

You should expect your body to go through a form of detox. It is therefore a good idea to drink a healthy amount of water immediately after and in the days following your treatment as this will help with the cleansing. A sea salt bath is also very cleansing and beneficial.

Bare in mind that Reiki continues to work after the treatment has been completed, be it a hands on treatment or via absent healing, it is not uncommon for the recipient to notice the effects up to a week after a treatment. There will likely be changes on all levels of your being, you may notice changes in your thought patterns and emotions as well as your within your physical body. Awareness on all levels of your being plays an important part in achieving wellness, so observe yourself, your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, symptoms and issues.
