As someone who is always looking to better my mind in my way of thought, I stumbled upon a youtube video that really has me thinking. The question that I am going to pose today is very simple but very meaningful, "Does the way you make and drink your tea reflect how you make and take life?" I am on youtube 24/7, rather on my phone or at home. I always try to post videos on there for people to watch possibly to cheer them up or provide knowledge to them to better their mind. A surprising author of videos, an artist, has caught my eye, though not for the reasons you may think.

Her name is Yang Hai Ying, a very lovely lady who post many videos of her everyday life and her views on the world. Now you might be thinking that I am "off my rocker" for getting my spiritual pump-up each day from watching youtube videos; just wait, give it all time. I do not know mrs. Hai Ying, but I do know this: she is a very striking soul. As I sit watching her make tea, I feel her pouring her soul into it. Her dedication to the moment and making the best of everything puts an air of enlightenment about her. So, while watching her enjoy her tea and talking about how it helps the body (as it being water) I thought of an intricate analogy.

As we make our tea, are we quick to use instant tea and throw it in the microwave for 1 minute or are we able to take the time and savour the process? When we drink our tea do we pour it in a small cup, savouring the taste; or do we gulp it down in a hurry with disregard to its flavour? As how we drink our tea, we take our life. Do we walk down hallways or do we run? Savouring tea is like savouring the moment, once it is gone it is gone forever; no two moments are exactly the same no matter how hard we try to make them similar. Mrs. Hai Ying, though she may not notice, is teaching us two thinks in every video: peace and savouring the moment. These two things are things we do not learn over night. In fact, in many cases they can take a whole lifetime. I haven't blogged in a while, but this has been an enlightening moment in my life. I hope that this can change how you drink your tea, for as you drink your tea you drink your life.
