What great men do common people follow.Whatever standards they set up by their exemplary acts the world will pursue. In the world today, the influence of material energy is so strong that it imprisons people's mind with the desire of material enjoyment. The more one can enjoy their senses, the more they are praised by common man. The tide of the current of the river of material existence naturally flows towards unrestricted sense gratification. And the animals they have no conception of any reason why to restrain their senses from their natural desires for sense enjoyment. Whatever their instinct they just follow their senses. Human life is meant for tapasya (austerity) Tapasya means to actually say 'NO' to go against natural flow of material nature, to go against the inclination of one's mind and senses. There is a famous saying "When the blind lead the blind they all together fall in a ditch and suffer." Therefore there is a great need for leadership in this society. Leadership of those persons who are willing to perform the tapasya giving up their own selfish interests for the higher purpose of leading the people on the path of Dharma (religion)
